Tomáš Drápal has been in the tourism industry all his professional life. He has worked in the management of several resorts. Since 2017, he has been working in the Mountain Resort Dolní Morava, where he has successfully contributed to building its world-class character.
The Jeseníky Mountains offer a wealth of experiences and pure nature. Are you managing to combine the hunger for experiences with the preservation of the beauty of the mountains in Dolní Morava?
The Králický Sněžník and Jeseníky Mountains are truly beautiful. Everyone will find what they are looking for in these mountains at any time of the year. Nature is all around us here. In Dolní Morava, we have created a resort in the middle of these mountains where several worlds come together. We have built facilities here providing various forms of entertainment, unique experiences, and the necessary infrastructure, which has become an indispensable part of a visit to a mountain resort today. Facilities for families with children, teambuilding, experiences for active people, adrenaline lovers, or simply for anyone who wants to eat well, drink well and return home with the feeling of a pleasant day spent in our region. The range of experiences on offer at our resort is truly unique in the Czech Republic and the whole of Central Europe. The best part of it all, however, is that all you have to do is literally walk a few metres from the main tourist destinations and you are in the middle of beautiful nature, without people and without worries.

Winter is coming. What can you offer the broader community of managers and their families?
Even in winter, we try to offer visitors something extra. The genius loci of Dolní Morava lies not only in the place itself but also in the variety and easy accessibility of quality services. It all starts just an hour before the slopes open to the public when you can take your first turns on the beautifully groomed slope with your loved ones thanks to the “First Ski Run” experience, rent the latest ski equipment, and have a royal breakfast in the mountain restaurant at the end of the experience. The range of activities for families and children continues with more than 10 km of perfectly groomed slopes, a snow park, a cross track, and the fun trails — a favourite with children, where they can experience their best skiing moments on big twisted turns, bumps or even in two underground tunnels. During the day, you can take your children to the ski school, ride the bobsled, take the cable car to the Sky Walk or climb the world’s longest suspension bridge. Once it gets dark, our resort takes a second breath. It offers the experience of evening sledging on an illuminated track over 2.5 km long, as well as evening rides on the bobsleigh run and, of course, not to be missed, night skiing on the slope directly opposite the Wellness Hotel Vista. Evening experiences in the form of organised hikes on snowshoes or alpine skis ending at the Slaměnka mountain chalet have their unique charm. They are a great way to close a busy winter day in Dolní Morava.
The Sky Walk and the Sky Bridge have taken you to great heights in the tourism industry. Where are you looking for your next vision?
All of the projects we run in Dolní Morava, including the Sky Walk and Sky Bridge 721, follow from one another. From the smallest children’s park to the longest suspension bridge in the world. It is not always necessary to only come up with big projects to go further or higher. We realise that too, which is why we work on the little things that will take us further as a resort. Our vision has been the same for several years now, to bring mountains of experiences and to be the first choice for family holidays. I think we are succeeding, and we are proud of that.
Thank you for the interview.
