Strojírny Sviadnov s.r.o. focuses on engineering production, mainly in the field of railway equipment, railway carriages, locomotives, and special railway vehicles. Thanks to the company’s extensive experience in the industry and specialisation in railway transport, it supplies the resulting products to the whole EU. We asked Lukáš Petričko, the company’s Managing Director, about the company’s priorities.
You offer comprehensive solutions in the field of rolling stock, not only for Czech Railways. You are also an export company. How are you doing?
We are doing really well in this segment, with a 60% increase in order volume compared to last year. We produce for major customers in the Czech Republic and the EU, who are engaged in the production of rolling stock. We supply everything from small parts to larger units, such as cooling units and diesel tanks to complete rolling stock chassis. We produce final products for sub-assemblies that go straight from us to assembly within the rolling stock.
Today, logistics and the transport of goods is carried out in containers, which you also manufacture. What types do you offer your customers?
We realised that if we wanted to succeed in this market, we had to specialise. That is why we produce single-purpose containers and are involved in their development together with a customer in Italy. We are trying to get our products into the ACTS (short for the Abroll-Container-Transport-System). This is a transport system for combined road-rail transport. Due to the geopolitical situation, this transport trend is slowly but surely returning to the main routes of Eurasia. These are “special” containers that can be used for all modes of transport – standardised. The main objective is acceleration.
After the takeover, you stabilised the company, and now you continue to develop it. Have you been able to apply modern management practices?
We already adopted modern management practices in the takeover phase of the company, where we started to focus on the overall efficiency of work. We defined goals for all departments and individuals and started to evaluate them regularly. Next, we focused on individual processes across the company and partially modified all of them. We changed the whole concept of communication in the company, ocusing on our customers and employees.
Thank you for the interview.
