TOMTON was founded in 2010 with the clear goal of being inspired by the technology from the automotive industry and developing modern and efficient heaters. Jan Kondé runs the company with infectious drive, enthusiasm and a wealth of experience. He keeps his finger on the pulse of when, what, how, and why.
The magic formulas of this time in the heating industry are savings, ecology, and efficiency. Is there anything else that can be innovated in this respect?
We are a technology company. We deal with the indoor climate of buildings. For 13 years, we have been developing innovative, efficient and cost-saving technologies that keep up with our industry’s latest trends and systems.
Our flagship product is the Tru:heat multifunctional heater. We have managed to develop a very compact, efficient, and economical unit that can heat, cool, and clean the air. By using multifunction itself, we try to differentiate ourselves, offering clients three functions in one solution. A solution that is efficient, economical, and fully functional with the latest heating trends in terms of heat pumps and low-temperature systems. As a bonus, we have received the 2017 Red Dot Award for industrial design.
If you had to tell a non-specialist five benefits your heater has, what would they be?
The first one is clearly efficiency, that goes hand in hand with savings. Compared to conventional heaters, the excellent thermodynamic properties of Tru:heat heaters result in heating savings of more than 20%. These thermodynamic properties also allow Tru:heat to provide thermal comfort. Thanks to better control and a faster response time, Tru:heat heating elements reach their full performance after only 15 seconds. The start-up speed, for example, in a meeting room where you do not have to keep heating at full power, is amazing.
Tru:heat units can significantly reduce monthly energy costs, which is beneficial for households and businesses, especially in the context of today’s energy prices.
Tru:heat units are environmentally friendly. They are fully functional with renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic panels or heat pumps, which further increase the savings on heating costs. Moreover, our units work better with these modern lowtemperature systems than conventional radiators. For example, they can cool in the summer months using heat pumps with a reverse function.
Tru:heat units are multifunctional. This will be appreciated by owners of all buildings when acquiring HVAC technologies. One system fully covers three systems: heating, cooling, and even air purification. While maintaining all the benefits, this brings enormous savings when purchasing these systems.
On what principle does air purification work, and how have you verified it?
Cleaning works on the modern principle of photocatalysis, where impurities and pollutants are not trapped but directly destroyed and decomposed. This combines one of the most effective air purification methods with additional savings. There is no need for regular filter changes as with conventional air purifiers.
We have cooperated with leading technical institutes in the Czech Republic on the development. The effectiveness of the disposal has been verified by the National Institute of Public Health. It turned out that in real operation, no bacteria or mould spores were detected after two hours of cleaning.
Which buildings are your products best suited for, and where can we currently find them?
Basically, for all buildings. For example, for senior home units. These people tend to be more susceptible to temperature changes, and air conditioning is not good for their respiratory system. Simply cooling it down by four degrees in the summer is sufficient. In winter, clients appreciate quick thermal comfort. The building owner will be pleased with the significant financial savings. The function of air purification in areas with more sickness or traces of odours is much appreciated. Such an implementation can be found, for example, in Opava.
I can also mention restaurants, or generally premises where heating is only used at certain times. We can adapt the design of the heaters to the interior. We are happy to evaluate each inquiry with the client.
