Avenier a.s. is a prominent distributor of vaccines and innovative medicines, managing an extensive network of vaccination centres across the Czech Republic. Filip Nosek, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, states that they consistently track the latest trends in the pharmaceutical industry to deliver the best that modern science can offer with the highest level of care.
What specific areas of vaccination is Avenier involved in?
Avenier is a top provider of vaccination and travel medicine services within the Czech Republic. We also specialise in distributing vaccines to nearly all vaccination facilities and in supplying centre-based medicines to specialised modern medical centres.
We are proud to operate the largest network of 23 vaccination centres spread across the country, offering a wide range of services. Our centres focus on vaccinations for common diseases like the flu, tickborne encephalitis, and hepatitis, as well as less frequent vaccines for illnesses such as dengue fever, yellow fever, and typhoid fever, which are required for travelling to high-risk areas. Besides administering vaccines, we offer thorough consultations on travel medicine.
Our services extend beyond individual clients; we also collaborate with companies that send employees overseas and with humanitarian aid organisations like People in Need. These varied activities have established us as a significant contributor to disease prevention and public health protection both nationally and internationally.
What are the biggest challenges you face as the operator of the largest network of vaccination centres in the Czech Republic?
The primary challenge is to uphold and enhance the quality of our services amid rapidly evolving healthcare demands and legislative changes. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need for flexibility and a swift adaptation to new circumstances. We are investing in innovation, digitalisation, and public education to maintain our excellent service. Additionally, we are concentrating on raising awareness about the importance of prevention.

Have you noticed any shift in how citizens view prevention following the COVID-19 pandemic?
Yes, the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly heightened awareness about the importance of prevention and vaccinations. People are showing greater interest in the availability of vaccines, not just for COVID-19 but also for other diseases. More individuals are seeking information about travel medicine and vaccinations before holidays or business trips. Our centres have experienced an increase in clients who recognise the importance of safeguarding their health and wish to prepare for potential health risks.
What is the awareness of health risks and what role does travel medicine play in this?
In recent years, awareness about health risks related to travel has improved, yet there is still progress to be made, particularly among travellers visiting exotic and less developed countries. Health risks can involve infectious diseases like malaria, yellow fever, typhoid, or dengue fever, as well as lesser-known diseases that require specialised knowledge for prevention.
Our vaccination centres are crucial in this field. We offer thorough consultations regarding health risks associated with specific destinations and recommend preventive strategies. These strategies include vaccinations as well as guidance on preventing insect bites, maintaining hygiene, and ensuring travellers have appropriate medications like antimalarials. This comprehensive service helps travellers minimise their risk of infection while abroad.
