Ivo Popardowski has been in the business of property and personal security for over twenty years. From a local business, he has built a Central European company that introduces modern technologies. At the same time, he never forgets his passion for fi ne art, the value of which he also perceives as a collector.
You have been in the security services industry for over twenty years. How has the system and the customer’s view of these services changed in that time?
Not only in our company but also in general, physical security is gradually being replaced by modern technologies, which also need to be protected at the customer’s premises. The 21st century brings a considerable boom in the production of new HW security technologies. Parallel to this development goes the development of SW and its user and operational security. Organisations and users never contemplate the possibility of being victims of a hacker attack. They argue that they are small, insignifi cant and thus the matter is settled. Practical experience shows that the information and knowledge of users are at a very low level.
Physical security is gradually being replaced by modern technology, which also needs to be protected at the customer’s site. What is your view on information and cyber security?
Successful ransomware (ransomware SW) caused USD 20 billion in damage globally in 2020, and the amount is growing. ICT management and administrators must ensure quality and ongoing training, user training, user knowledge and willingness to report an attack resulting from their error immediately. The security trend is the “Security Centre” hich operates as a complex of services and solutions, runs 24/7/365, and assists with HW and SW installation as well as comprehensive training and practice of management and users. In particular, regular end-user training and testing are
one of the most eff ective yet least expensive solutions.
Cyber attacks on healthcare organisations are on the rise. How can they protect themselves as a precaution?
The year 2020 brought unprecedented closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic across Europe, forcing employers and workers, including the government, to undergo a massive digital shift and increase the use of online communications. Hospitals need to take serious, strategic and structural measures to protect their infrastructure and confidential electronic health information from attacks, as the failure or unavailability of technology and equipment can result in serious threats to an organisation’s continuity of operation and, as a result, timely, quality patient care. We view security management as management ideally layered into the areas of defining strategy, tactics and operations, along with emphasising training and increasing the knowledge of all users as well as ongoing exercise and evaluation. Our cyber division is ready to provide advice and assistance in all stages of strategy, tactics and professional user training to reduce successful cyber attacks.
