Transforming Precision Engineering through Innovation

Pavel Filák, along with two other current board members, has been part of the DG Solutions project since its inception. The company was officially founded in 2019, and four years later, he formally took over the company’s leadership from the position of CEO and Chairman of the Board. Since 2022, he has contributed to the realization of long-prepared projects and the company’s rapid growth. With extensive experience in the financial sector and corporate banking, holding positions in companies like HSBC and UniCredit Bank Czech Republic and Slovakia, he brings strategic thinking, international trade expertise, business strategy understanding, and project financing to his role at DG Solutions.

You are a dynamic company in the field of precision engineering. What makes you competitive in the global market?
DG Solutions is an excellent example of how a dynamic and innovative company can transform the field of precision engineering. Our global competitiveness is based on several key factors. Firstly, our deep expertise, primarily embodied by our co-founder Michal Durkáč and his team, and our innovation capabilities in advance materials machining and processing. We have extensive experience with materials such as metal matrix materials, for example, molybdenum-copper, diamond-copper, and single-crystal materials. These specialized materials allow us to create components fundamental to the semiconductor industry’s development and production. DG Solutions is a purely Czech startup, driven by ambition and Czech capital, without the backing of a large multinational company or major investor. Our philosophy revolves around innovation and constantly seeking new ways to use conventional technological means unconventionally. Whether it’s utilizing new materials, developing advanced technological processes, or creating more efficient production methods, we continuously push the boundaries of possibility.

Recently, you opened a research and development center in Brno. How is your collaboration with Czech universities?
Our newly opened development center in Brno is at the forefront of precision machining, automation, and robotization in line with Industry 4.0 standards. Not only does this center allow us to be at the cutting edge of technological innovation, but it also provides a unique platform for collaboration with academic institutions. We highly value our partnerships with Czech universities. We collaborate with VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, and this partnership has already enabled us to initiate several joint projects. These focus on the development of new technologies and methods in advanced materials machining and processing. Our goal is to create a robust scientific and research ecosystem in the Czech Republic. We plan to expand our collaboration with more universities, aiming to provide opportunities for young and ambitious individuals to gain practical experience and bring their ideas to life.

You offer semiconductor processing services. Does this strategic sector receive adequate support in the Czech Republic?
The semiconductor industry is a significant sector of the global economy and holds strategic importance for the future of technology. At DG Solutions, we pride ourselves on our role in this sector and being part of the growing semiconductor scene in the Czech Republic. We are committed to keeping our main research and development activities in semiconductors within the Czech Republic, regardless of how our business activities develop in Europe, Asia, or potentially the USA. We want our company to be part of this industry’s growth in the Czech Republic, contributing directly to the Czech economy’s benefits from this growth. Regarding the support for this strategic sector in the Czech Republic, we believe it is crucial or this industry to be adequately supported at all levels, mirroring the trend in key global semiconductor regions. We would welcome support through government policies and regulations, investments in research and development, and educational programs preparing the youth for careers in this sector.

Today, the digitalization of production is a prerequisite for competitiveness. How do you see the role of artificial intelligence, and how are you utilizing it currently?
I agree that we perceive digitalization as one of the main criteria for our competitiveness. One of the fundamental parameters of our project’s success, besides setting up production processes, is its automation and digitalization, allowing us to remotely manage projects close to our clients. This reaffirms the importance of our development center in Brno, which deals precisely with setting up production lines before their configuration and launch. Regarding AI itself, under Michal Durkáč’s leadership, we have an expert in algorithm programming for task sorting and prioritization in line management. Our ambition is to eliminate the role of production planners and utilize AI to help us with line status monitoring, ordering consumable materials, service activities, and other production-related activities.
