Why Is It Important To Recognise Successful Managers and Share Their Inspiring Stories?

“In times when the rules are shifting and uncertainty is on the rise, we need positive examples more than ever,” says Jan Rafaj, President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic. Demonstrating that success is achievable even during challenging times carries significant influence. That is why it is important to reward managers who have succeeded – not only for their achievements but also as an inspiration for future leaders. In more than 20 years in business, I have witnessed numerous crises, upheavals, and significant industry transformations. Each experience has reinforced one key point for me – a good manager is someone who:

Listens – Effective leaders are those who can understand various viewpoints, from employees within the company to business partners. In our setting, where the goals of corporations, family-run enterprises, and the government converge, empathy and openness are crucial for effective leadership.

Keeps calm – The future can become uncertain when there is a shift in the geopolitical landscape or the advent of new technology. A manager who does not panic and maintains direction is crucial in those moments – for the team and the company.

Learns all the time – No one knows everything and a good manager understands this. Such a manager stays informed about trends, seeks advice, and is unafraid of changes. The capacity to learn has become just as important as having experience.

Promotes innovation – Inspiring stories often start with individuals who choose to challenge the status quo. Effective managers embrace fresh ideas, have confidence in their teams, and are willing to venture beyond their comfort zones.

This is why it is important to recognise and discuss these individuals – not for marketing purposes, but to foster a positive culture. Inspirational examples can influence not just within companies but across society.
